Paje, Nungwi & Dunga
You will find an ATM in Paje, Nungwi, and Dunga if you don’t want to use the ones in Stone Town, but you should be aware that they do run out of money quite quickly and aren’t a reliable way of getting out cash.
Once you do locate an ATM you will find you can only withdraw 400,000 shillings. This sounds like a lot, but only equates to around $140 which won’t actually get you that far in Zanzibar.
You should also be aware that the cash machines here do charge, as is common in a lot of countries.
If you’re staying Tanzania beforehand then it might be worth withdrawing cash there instead, or as well as, so that you have enough for your stay in Zanzibar and don’t have to spend your holiday hunting for an ATM.
