Luka Korculanska beach is where you will find the locals on a hot summers afternoon. It’s not the most impressive beach in Korcula, being just a tiny strip alongside lots of mooring boats, but it is close to all the action and great place to watch the world go by.

#3 Vela Przina

This is a stunning beach that’s situated in a sheltered cove on the western side of Korcula island, in Lumbarda. It’s one of the most popular beaches on the island and gets busy during peak season, but it’s still worth a visit if you’re looking for a place to relax and soak up the sun, especially if you’re seeking a sandy beach.

The water here is crystal clear and perfect for swimming, while the soft sand and stunning surroundings make it a great place to simply sit back and enjoy the view. The beach slopes down gently to the sea, which makes it an ideal spot for families with young children.

There are also a few beach bars and restaurants dotted along the shore, so you can enjoy a refreshing drink or bite to eat in between swims. You can rent beach umbrellas here, which you might want to do if you plan on spending the day here as there is very little natural shade.

The water is crystal clear (you might be noticing a pattern here!) and the little beach has a restaurant close by that serves freshly caught fish during the summer months.

This beach is smaller than some of the others on this list, but that only adds to its charm. Due to its proximity to two of the main towns, it can get crowded, but it’s still worth visiting if you’re seeking beautiful beaches.

Lumbarda has an impressive coastline

Lumbarda beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island of Korčula. It is situated on the east coast of the island and is sheltered from the strong winds that can often blow in from the open Adriatic Sea.

The beach is made up of fine, white sand and is surrounded by crystal-clear water. There are several small, steep cliff faces that provide a small amount of natural shade and make for an excellent place to take a break from the sun, though you might want to take a beach umbrella if you’re planning on staying a while.

This is one of Korcula’s sandy beaches and it’s also a little off the beaten track, so it’s unlikely to be crowded even during the summer months. There are a few spots of shade around the edges, and there’s a small restaurant that serves basic but tasty food.

Kneza beach is one of the best swimming beaches on Korcula, with calm, clear water that is well sheltered from the prevailing winds. In certain conditions, though, the sea can bring in rubbish making the beach littered which is sad. If you find the beach in a sorry state then why not do a little beach clean-up and do some good on your holiday?

Where to stay

📍 Stone House

Located in Račišće, Stone house is the perfect place to stay close to Kneza beach. It has a private pool and garden, basic kitchen facilities and a car rental service can be arranged here.

#8 Zitna Beach

crystal clear sea water
With water like this you can see why Korcula has some of the best beaches in Croatia!

This pretty little beach can be found close to the village of Zavalatica. The water here is unreal, and you will want to go for a dip (or three!) so make sure you bring your swim things and some reef shoes to protect you from the rocks surrounding the beach and the sea urchins that make their home there! You might also want to bring some goggles as the snorkelling is pretty good here.

There is a small car park for the beach (with a small charge), but you might prefer to park on the road and walk down, especially if you arrive later in the day when the beach tends to be busier. It can get a bit overcrowded as it’s a small beach, but if you’re happy to do some rock scrambling you can usually find a secluded spot.

Where to stay

📍 Apartmani Tomić

This apartment is close to Zitna Beach and has everything you could need for your stay in Korcula. It even has a private beach area! Plus BBQ facilities, a terrace with sea views and free private parking.

#9 Vaja Bay

This white pebble beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Korcula, but tends to be a little less busy than some of the most popular. This is probably due to the fact it’s a little tricky to reach, down a steep and badly maintained staircase.

If you’re feeling adventurous though, you’ll be rewarded with a stunning bay made up of bright white pebbles and blue, inviting waters. Get here early if you want to make use of the sunbeds, and make sure you have a drink at the little restaurant here too.

Where to stay

📍 Stone House

The best place to stay for visiting Vaja Bay is the little village of Račišće. Stone house is a great choice, with a private pool and garden, basic kitchen facilities and a car rental service that can be arranged here.

#10 Proizd Island

Proizd island beach in Korcula
Proizd is known for its rugged coastline

Just a half an hour boat ride away from Vela Luka is the wild and rugged Proizd island, often voted as having the best beaches in all of Croatia!

The island itself, though just off the mainland, feels remote and untouched (if you ignore the visitors that show up daily). The beaches here are mostly made up of dramatic rock slabs jutting out into the water, and the sea is probably the most impressive colour you will ever see.

You could easily spend a day here wandering the little dirt tracks from beach to beach, but there is only one restaurant which fills up quickly so it’s best to bring your own supplies.

Where to stay

There is no accommodation on Proizd island itself, so your best off staying in Vela Luka where there are regular boat trips to the island.

📍Komun Apartments

Komun Apartments is the perfect place to stay in Vela Luka, with garden access and an outdoor swimming pool. The units have a terrace or balcony, and the fact it’s surrounded by fruit tress is an added bonus!

Hidden Beaches On Korcula Island

#11 Samograd Bay

WATER RUSHING ONTO A STONE BEACH

Samograd beach is on the north of the island, close to the little village of Racisce. It’s a secluded haven due to the fact there is no main road access to the beach, but rather a little gravel road that you’ll need to be adventurous to drive down!

The water here is usually calm and the swimming is ideal, with some good snorkelling. The beach is surrounded by forested cliffs, giving it a true desert island feel. This is the perfect place to get lost for a day.

Make sure you bring your own supplies, and take a bag for your rubbish, as there are no facilities here.

Where to stay

The closest village is the pretty village of Racisce, where you can find some lovely places to stay. We recommend Stone House. If you’re feeling adventurous then there are some great places for camping on Korcula too.

#12 Bratinja Luka Beach

This is another beach that owes its seclusion to the fact it isn’t the easiest to reach, but if you’re prepared to make the effort to get here then it’s totally worth it!

It’s a small beach but rarely gets too busy. The cliffs surrounding it provide shade in the afternoon, so it’s the perfect spot for an afternoon dip and a little nap in the cool! It’s a great alternative to Samograd bay as it’s on the south of the island, so if the wind is blowing from the north this spot is very protected.

Again, there are no facilities here so pack a picnic and enjoy the solitude!

Where to stay

You’re best off staying in the nearby town of Lumbarda where you’ll find a variety of bars and restaurants, and great accommodation choices.

#13 Orlandusa Beach

Next to Bratinja Luka beach you will find Orlandusa beach, so you can combine the two in a day trip here and see them both. You will need to take the same tricky road to get here, and there is a short walk through the forest to get to the beach.

This is a beautiful, serene beach that is perfect for a day of peace and total relaxation. You might even have this cove all to yourself.

#14 Plaža Lučica

Just 10 minutes from Vela Luka but a world away in terms of the crowds, this beach will give you the peace and quiet you’re looking for. The view of the beach as you approach is incredible, with the clearest water and the most amazing colours.

This beach is a great spot to watch the sunset from too, but make sure you bring a jacket or blanket as the sea breeze can make it chilly in the evening. Be aware that at times the wind can kick up the sea in this bay, so it isn’t always calm here.

Where to stay

Stay in nearby Vela Luka for the closest access to this beautiful beach.

#15 Pavja Luka

boats anchored in crystal clear water on Korcula island, Croatia
Crystal clear waters

This beach isn’t unique as such (though it’s still super pretty!) but what makes it special is the hike you’ll have to do to get here. It makes the beach feel all the more secluded and wild. You will need to walk about 20 minutes to get here, and the path isn’t particularly well maintained so it’s a bit of an adventure!

You will, however, find a secluded beach that not many people bother to hike to and that’s often passed by the trip boats. It’s the perfect place to find some seclusion and for this reason, it makes the list for one of the best beaches in Korcula.
