The food at this authentic, local restaurant is delicious, and we highly recommend it if you’re eating out in Korcula town. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better meal or service anywhere else.
There are some great options for vegetarians here and the portions are huge so make sure you’re hungry.

What a cute little wine bar that is hidden from the hustle and bustle, in the heart of old city. We had an amazing time here trying several different wines. The staff were friendly and they had great wines from all over Croatia as well as other countries.
#23 Wine and Tapas Bar Lole
Marka Andrijića Br.15, Korcula Town, Korcula Island 20260
We loved this place. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable and the setting was perfect for an intimate night.
If you fancy eating here then the tapas is plenty (and delicious!) There are only four tables though so you’ll want to book ahead or go early to avoid disappointment.
Festivals To Look Out For
Moreška, Korcula Town
Korčula’s traditional sword dance takes the form of a stylized confrontation between two rival kings. The Black King, who steals a girl (the Bula) from her home and the white king who has to win her back.
Moreška was traditionally performed on St Theodore day which happens on July 29th but nowadays people attend these performances every Monday or Thursday when tourists are visiting so that way no matter what dates you are visiting you can still enjoy!
Kumpanija, Vela Luka
Vela Luka’s traditional sword dance is an unwavering, hypnotic performance that features beautiful klapa choral singing and shrill bagpipes. The slow moving but nonetheless captivating rituals of this ancient festival come alive in a big way with Vela Luka’s ritualistic Sword Dance which has been passed down through generations. It’s on every Tuesday during the tourist season.
Korkyra Jazz Festival, Korčula Town
The Korcula jazz festival is held over two nights in July, where top-notch musicians play a variety of different jazz, from traditional to contemporary.

How To Get To Korcula Island
There is no airport on the island of Korcula, so the best way to get here is by boat. You can either get a ferry, or a take a day trip here from Dubrovnik.
Ferry
The ferry from Dubrovnik to Korcula takes around 3 hours and will cost about $20.
The ferry from Split to Korcula will take around 2.5 hours and costs about $20.
Day Trip
You can visit Korcula from Dubrovnik as a day trip with a tour company. This is a great choice if you have limited time in Croatia (and it includes a wine tour, which you have to do while you’re here!)

Travel Tips: Know Before You Go
-Korcula is best visited in the summer months, when the weather is warm and sunny. However it will be busier then. Croatia can be visited at any time of the year, and is always beautiful!
-The Old Town can be quite crowded during peak times, so it’s best to visit early in the morning or late at night.
-Most places accept card payment though some still only take cash. It’s a good idea to check before you dine.
-If you plan on visiting the churches, bring something to cover your shoulders as a sign of respect.

Is Korcula Or Hvar Better?
The two islands of Hvar and Korcula in Croatia offer a different kind of experience for visitors, and it’s hard to say which is better.
Hvar is renowned for being a party island, and each year hundreds of teens flock here for the all night parties and vibrant atmosphere. That being said, as 30 somethings looking to relax we loved Hvar too, so it definitely is an island for everyone.
Korcula has a much more laid back and perhaps authentic vibe. The old town is quiet compared to Hvar, and you’ll often find little alleyways all to yourself.
The beaches on both islands are stunning, though it is harder to get off-the-beaten-track and find secluded beaches and coves in Hvar. Both islands have a range of outdoor activities to enjoy, and beautiful nearby islands to visit.
The great thing about Hvar and Korcula is that you might not have to choose between the two! The islands are right next to each other, so if you can’t make your mind up then why not split your time between Hvar and Korcula?
